On Wednesday, September 30, 2015, a jury in Monroe County Circuit Court returned a verdict in favor of Plaintiff Lisa Cooper Elgin, a former nurse practitioner at Pioneer Hospital in Aberdeen, Mississippi.  Plaintiff was awarded a total of $148,566.00 in damages.

The jury found that Pioneer breached its employment contract with Plaintiff, failed to pay her for paid time off she had accrued, and wrongfully terminated her because she reported abuse of an elderly patient in the hospital’s senior care unit.
